Libby indicted... but not Rove.
From someone who was interviewed by Mr. Fitzgerald in this case due to blogging about overhearing an administration official leak "Wilson's wife" at a Fourth of July party in 2003, I have a couple of observations about this case.
First of all, the administration official that I heard leak Valeria Plame's identity wasn't mentioned in the indictment. Second, the indictment specifies anonymous White House officials while the one I heard from doesn't work in the White House... which tells me that this WAS a planned effort to expose Plame's name and role in Wilson's trip to Niger. Third, Fitzgerald wanted to get to the bottom of this leak but good old Scooter wouldn't let him.
Lastly, given how long this has taken to play out with a reporter going to jail for not releasing her sources, Bush 2.0 GOT REALLY LUCKY BY HIDING BEHIND THE WHEELS OF JUSTICE ON THIS ONE... as it turns our, they got a second term and Scooter gets an upcoming trial. Someday, hopefully, we'll know the truth.
